Changing Lives
One at a Time
For more than 60 years in Australia, Tupperware has been committed to making a positive impact. Through products, focusing on helping people reduce their individual impact on the environment through the use of our reusable, durable and easy-to-use solutions that minimise plastic and food waste. Plus through business opportunity, inspiring women to cultivate the confidence they need to enrich their lives, nourish their families, and fuel communities throughout Australia.
In 1946, Earl Tupper introduced his legendary airtight seals patterned after the inverted rim on a can of paint which prevented food from drying out, wilting or losing its flavour in the now-common refrigerator. Despite their breakthrough nature, Earl Tupper's products didn't sell well in retail outlets, primarily because consumers needed demonstrations in order to understand how they worked.
Brownie Wise, was a pioneering American saleswoman largely responsible
for the success of Tupperware, through her development of the "party plan" system of marketing.
The first Tupperware home party was held in 1948. Demonstrations in the
home proved a dramatically effective way of communicating the benefits of
the revolutionary seal.
"If we build the people, they'll build the business."
Brownie Wise
Brownie understood early on that women needed more options for making a good living. Under her leadership in the 1950s, Tupperware became well-known for offering American women expanded opportunities to earn an income, drive their careers and increase their confidence through building success on their own terms.
Dubbed the “Tupperware Effect,” our entrepreneurial opportunity continues to sweep the globe, helping women, men, families and communities elevate their economic and social status.
Tupperware Australia proudly supports Share the Dignity, an Australian Charity bringing dignity to women and girls experiencing homelessness, domestic violence and period poverty through the distribution of sanitary items. As a company with a long history supporting women, Tupperware Australia is happy to help a sister out.
