Homemade Hot Chocolate

The best way to truly enjoy this drink is to make it at home and enjoy it curled up with a good book or a holiday movie to watch. This homemade hot chocolate recipe is easy and makes you feel warm and cozy! Top it off with some small marshmallows and you've got a whole tumbler to last you the whole night.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 cups milk (dairy or non-dairy, like almond, oat, or soy)
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (or sweetener of your choice)
  • 1/4 cup chopped dark chocolate or chocolate chips
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Optional toppings: Whipped cream, marshmallows, chocolate shavings, or a sprinkle of cinnamon

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Warm up the milk in a medium-sized saucepan and heat over medium-low heat. Stir the milk occasionally to prevent scorching.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the cocoa powder and sugar. This helps to evenly distribute the cocoa without lumps.
  3. Gradually whisk the cocoa-sugar mixture into the warm milk until fully dissolved.
  4. Stir in the chopped dark chocolate or chocolate chips. Continue stirring until melted and the mixture is smooth.
  5. Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  6. Pour the hot chocolate into mugs and top with your favorite additions—whipped cream, marshmallows, or a sprinkle of cinnamon for extra coziness.
  7. Enjoy your cozy drink in your Big T Tumbler!
