Glazed Ham Recipe
INGREDIENTS
For the Ham:- 1 fully cooked, bone-in ham (about 4–5 kg or 9–11 lbs)
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
- 1/4 cup orange juice
- 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground cloves
- 1/4 tsp ground ginger
INSTRUCTIONS
- Preheat your oven to 160°C (325°F). Position the oven rack in the lower third of the oven.
- Remove the ham from its packaging and pat dry with paper towels. Place the ham in a roasting pan with the flat side facing down. Score the surface of the ham with shallow cuts in a diamond pattern to allow the glaze to penetrate.
- In a small saucepan, combine brown sugar, honey, Dijon mustard, orange juice, apple cider vinegar, cinnamon, cloves, and ginger. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves and the mixture thickens slightly (about 5 minutes). Remove from heat.
- Brush the ham with a generous layer of glaze, covering all exposed areas. Cover the ham loosely with foil to prevent over-browning and bake for 1 1/2 to 2 hours, basting with additional glaze every 30 minutes.
- Increase the oven temperature to 220°C (425°F). Remove the foil and brush the ham with a final layer of glaze. Return the ham to the oven for 15–20 minutes, or until the glaze is caramelized and sticky. Keep a close eye to prevent burning.
- Remove the ham from the oven and let it rest for 10–15 minutes before slicing. Serve warm with any remaining glaze drizzled on top or on the side.
