Suncity: Number 1 x 2!

Last year it was announced that SunCity had become the first Australian Distributorship to claim the title of Number one Tupperware Distributorship, Worldwide - an amazing feat considering that there are over 2000 Tupperware Dsitributorships worldwide. It was an outstanding achievement, topping off a string of fantastic performances: SunCity achieved $3.5 million growth in sales between 2006 and 2007, was Australia/New Zealand’s first Distributorship to achieve $12 million in sales, and the first to have a Manager achieve more than $2 million in United Sales (Deborah Hert).

But by the time the announcement of their Number one position was made at 2008 February Sessions, SunCity Directors Rhonda and Andrew Field already had their sights set on the future.

“The signs are there for another great year,” said Andrew. “We’ve already passed last year’s figures and there is more room for growth.”

Sure enough, Andrew’s predictions paid off. At February Sessions this year, amidst a blaze of streamers and confetti, it was proudly announced that SunCity had done it again – laying claim to the coveted Worldwide Number One title an amazing two years in a row. We had a chance to speak to Rhonda and Andrew about their win.

Insight: Did you think you could pull off #1 two years in a row?
Rhonda: “To think we could take out the number 1 spot in the World - twice – I felt we had a chance but I wondered sometimes if I was just dreaming. Andrew and I knew we had the backing of all our Managers/ Demonstrators and Staff. We talked about it a lot during the year and marveled at the “what if?” Everyone worked hard with this in mind.”
Andrew: “Everyone on the team worked incredibly hard. We were significantly up by August, the Aussie Economy was strong compared to the rest of the world. By then, I didn’t think we could pull it off, I knew we could.”

Insight: How did the win feel? What do you remember about it most?
Rhonda: “Words that described how I felt – ‘very Proud’ , ‘relief’ and then ‘very happy’- I’ll never forget the excitement from our team and from everyone in the room, the suspense and nerves as Rose started calling out the yearly Worldwide recognition - just hoping to hear the words “SunCity - No.1”. But sharing the news with our kids and family straight after the announcement was really special.
Andrew: “When Rose asked me to open the envelope I was so nervous, and when I saw it read “Number One” I almost couldn’t speak. But I just felt immensely proud of everyone in the team, and to know that the first time wasn’t just a fluke felt great.”

Insight: To what do you attribute Sun City’s success?
Rhonda: “Our EGM’s (including those who are now Directors), Managers and Top Demonstrators – are role models at the ‘ship and play a big part in moulding our people to be successful. These Top performers are developed by first instilling the ‘belief in themselves’ , then’ trusting they will do a good job’ – and they do. With thorough training and customer service being our top priority, we are privileged to lead such an amazing team.”

Insight: What would you say to someone just starting out in Tupperware who wants to achieve like you both have?
Rhonda: “Care about the success of other people – it all starts with your host - the first person you want to look after and reward with wonderful host gifts and great service. As a Manager, care for your Demonstrators – training and tracking them to succeed and achieve all the rewards and opportunities available to them. Always stay ‘new’ learning from others and trying ‘fresh new’ ideas. My motto in life is ‘never ever give in’ until it works.”

Insight: Do you have anyone in particular you’d like to thank?
Rhonda: “My parents – my role models who have taught me patience, respect, kindness and how to work hard. Andrew and the kids for their patience and support, for helping me to put in the long hours. The untiring work and dedication of our staff, a special thank you to Bek Welsh – who helps me with all my day to day work and setting the stage for all events, the Company for making our life easy with great promotions, training programmes and support and of course our wonderful sales force who respond with excitement and determination to my training and guidance.”
Andrew: “Rhonda, of course. Rhonda’s Mum, who’s been a fantastic role-model. Everyone on the team, from Demonstrators to EGMs, and a special thanks to June Mitchell our Office Administrator and Valda Brockie, our Warehouse Manager.”

Congratulations SunCity, we’re looking forward to an incredible 2009 and beyond!
