Staff Profile - Zdravka Markus
From innovative sales strategies and product knowledge, to great business know-how, Zdravka Markus in the training team helps make sure that the sales force has the information and skills to make their businesses a success.
Zdravka Markus, Tupperware’s Sales Force Training Administrator, joined the Tupperware team in March 2009.
“In my previous job, I was working doing supervision and a little bit of training, but I had always longed to be employed in training and development,” she explains. “I love the Tupperware brand and when I saw the Tupperware position advertised, I jumped at the opportunity because it was the perfect move into a full-time training position.”
Zdravka is part of the sales department, working as one of a two-person training team. She describes her work as fun, exciting and busy, with no two workdays ever alike.
“It’s a very varied role, with two main areas of responsibility. The first is maintaining stock levels and updating the content of our training manuals. The second area is researching material for upcoming training events as well as working on the slides, workbooks and other support material.”
Recent projects Zdravka has contributed to include the manager conference training, EGM forum and the leadership sessions.
“I love supporting the sales force,” she says. “It’s my goal to help them make a success of their business.
“One of the most rewarding parts of my job is reviewing the evaluation forms after a training event. It’s fantastic to read how excited attendees are, and how much they are looking forward to putting their new skills and learnings into practice in their own businesses.”
While Zdravka had never actually attended a Tupperware party before she joined the company, she’s now a Demonstrator herself! “It’s not only fun to do and financially rewarding; it also allows me to see what it’s like on the front line. That’s an invaluable perspective that I put to good use when preparing training materials,” she says.
While you might expect a trainer to point automatically to great information and skills development as the secret of business success, surprisingly Zdravka also believes a healthy dose of heart is key.
“The most useful piece of advice I’ve been given is to connect with your passion for the product and for the people. Tupperware’s tried-and-trusted formula relies on this passion: if you stick to it, success will follow.”
Choosing your favourite Tupperware product is never easy but, after a pause, Zdravka opts for the Tupperware Corkscrew. “After all, I use it every weekend,” she twinkles.
